A project to spread positivity to my kids this Valentine’s Day

Do you ever get tired of yelling at your kids? I don’t know what it is about this winter (maybe it’s the polar vortex that has us cooped up in the house and going a little crazy), but my tolerance level for shouting at my kids when they do something wrong has gotten out of control. I mean, when did this happen?! I don’t know about you, but I don’t like it, and I’m making a conscious effort to stop it.

So I know a DIY project can’t solve all my parenting woes, but this one’s a step in the right direction. I saw it on a feed recently, and immediately knew I had to do it. Thank you @jerseygirlinthesouthblog for the idea!

Here it is. Super quick and an incredibly simple way to spread some positivity to my kids and remind them how much their mama loves them.

Starting tomorrow, on February 1, my girls will have a heart to read every day until Valentine’s Day that expresses one thing I love about them. It can be anything (i.e. I love that you are good at math, You are such a great cook, etc.) as long as it comes from the heart. My hope is that it will put a smile on their little faces and set them up for a great day each morning that they read it. I also love that it really made me sit down and think about how wonderful my munchkins are. In this crazy thing we call parenthood, God knows we can all use the reminders sometimes.

Hope you love this project as much as I do. And as you can see, I used a chalkboard that I already had in the house, and simply strung some wire across to attach the hearts. Add a little Valentine’s Day phrase or artwork, and boom – a Valentine’s craft to put a smile on everyone’s faces.

Enjoy!
